When I work on my own blog, I often share my own personal gifs. I’m not saying that your gifs should be like mine, but some of my most popular posts are ones that include my favorite things and how I’m enjoying the world around me.

I have a lot of gifs on there that I would never share with you simply because they are not my own. I share so much of myself with you, that I don’t want you to feel lost.

I am not sure if you are familiar with the term “gif”, but a gif is a compressed video file. In many cases a gif is just a compressed version of a video (such as a screenshot) or a still image, but it is actually a GIF file itself. There are many different formats for GIFs, and the format used here is called GIF-2000.

GIFs are great because you can display them in your browser in a very much compressed and animated format. However, it’s also a format where the compression is done by the web server. When you watch a GIF you see something that looks like the animation (or movie) but is actually a compressed video file. Because of this the file size is very small, and the compression is often very high quality.

The format is very similar to JPEG, so you can use JPEG to compress the file and GIF-2000.GIF to display it. However, GIF-2000.GIF doesn’t seem to be very popular with browsers.

It is still a thing though, and even has its own extensions (although most of them aren’t really). I’m not sure what it is, but when you click on the icon you can see a description of the file format.

The file format is still very old and outdated, but it is in use in the web. A few browsers that support it are Opera, IE, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and even Microsoft Word. It’s used for the animated GIF.
