20 Gifts You Can Give Your Boss if They Love apple pay logo
So many of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot.
It does seem as though we spend a lot of time on autopilot.
Our main goal in this life is to accomplish tasks and achieve goals. Of course, when we don’t know where we will be in a specific amount of time we don’t make plans, we simply wait. But when we’re on autopilot, we have no idea what to do with our time. We can’t plan because we’re on autopilot, and so we don’t know what to do with it. We become so distracted and lose track of our goals and our time.
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our busy lives that we forget to take care of anything that needs to be taken care of. For example, if you’re a person who has a toddler, you probably use a lot of time to get things done. The same is true of your spouse. When you’re on autopilot, you do all of the things that you’re supposed to do. You do all the things that you need to do.
This is the same thing that happens with all of our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions. We all become so busy that we lose track of what we need to do. This is what happens when we get too busy. We find ourselves with things that we should be doing, but we forget. So we just keep doing them, but don’t have the time or the discipline to deal with them.
This is where the concept of “autopilot” comes into play. As stated above, all of our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions are automatically on autopilot. But with a couple of exceptions, autopilot isn’t always a bad thing. For example, I like to read, and I’ve found that I can usually find a book out of the library, or a great book on the web, that I enjoy.
What is autopilot? The idea is that when we are in a fixed routine, it is hard to remember what those routines are for. If you put your finger on the pulse of your thoughts and body, you see that it is almost like a tattoo.
Sometimes we forget our routines, and when we do, they can be very unpleasant. This was certainly true for me when I was in my early twenties. I was in college and I was always hungry. I would eat when I was bored, or when I wasn’t being watched (this seems like a silly way to put it, but it’s the truth). So one day I sat in my car and ate a bag of potato chips.
I’m not sure if potato chips qualify as a “routine”, but I can tell you that at least half of them were eaten during class. This was also the case for a lot of people in the late ’60s and early ’70s, but especially for guys. They didn’t really eat their meals sitting around the house, but they definitely ate them when they were bored. As a result, they developed a few bad habits.
The problem is that some people do eat their meals sitting around the house, some people dont, and some people both. The fact that so many people are eating potato chips and drinking soda as they sit around the house is proof that there is one problem, and one big one.
